The Detska Kitka Choir through the eyes of a singer -
a debut photographic exhibition by Vera Hadzhiyska
About the exhibition:
Vera Hadzhiyska began singing in The Detska Kitka Choir in 2004, and in 2006 her passion for photography was born. Vera’s stay in the choir and her participation in numerous concerts and tours in Bulgaria and abroad enriched her culturally and gave her the opportunity to develop her photographic abilities. In the period 2006-2013 Vera has photo-documented many events, and in 2012 she carried out two official photo sessions with the choir. The nine years spent as a member of The Detska Kitka Choir have left their deep mark on Vera’s personality, reinforcing her love for music and art. 2013 is Vera’s last year with the choir. Before leaving Bulgaria in September 2014 to study photography in England, Vera decided to put together this photographic exhibition dedicated to the choir. With it, she aims to provoke the interest of more young girls to sing and travel the world with The Detska Kitka Choir, as well as to awaken the memories of all current and former choir members of the years spent immersed in the world of music. The exhibition is retrospective in nature and consists of 38 photographs and one art installation. It was displayed form 23 June to 6 July 2014 in the Balabanov House (Ancient Plovdiv, Bulgaria). Some of the photos are still available for sale. For more information contact Vera at +359 896 71 23 91 or e-mail: [email protected] |
